Snow Leopards as their name reveals, inhabit in cold mountain areas, in Central and South Asia.
Their thick fur is usually grey with black and white rossetes and their eyes are green or grey.
They are smaller than the other big cats and have a relatively short body with a quite long tail.
Numerous agencies are working to conserve the snow leopard and its threatened mountain ecosystems and 2015 is designated International Year of the Snow Leopard.
The estimated population is less than 10,000 living in protected areas.
