Scientific name: Panthera tigris sumatrae

The Sumatran tiger was classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2008.
They inhabit the island of Sumatra, Indonesia and are the smallest surviving tiger subspecies.

SUMATRAN TIGER - Vanishing Species

There are only an estimated 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild, loss of habitat is a major factor in the decline of this species.
